Happy New Year from Streamnation!

This December was busy for us, and we’ve got many EXCITING UPDATES to share with you, including more free storage, updated desktop and iOS apps and better display of processing files.

  • You have more free storage

For free users, we are increasing your free storage from 2 GB to 5 GB. This is in addition to any free storage that you might have earned by inviting friends to Streamnation, uploading content or liking Streamnation on Facebook. Now free users can also earn up to 20 GB for free.
For paid users, you can also get more storage for free as a paid user now! And if you earned any additional storage back when you were a free user, we are now doubling that additional storage and adding it to your paid storage limit! All the extra storage you earn now is also double what free users get for the same actions.

  • Upload and download in background on iOS

jan14_pic_iosNew versions of the iOS apps are live in Apple’s App Store and are ready for you to download. The updated app lets you upload and download photos and videos in the background, so it’s easier for you to view your content offline. And remember, with the iPhone and iPad app and Apple TV you can stream everything to your TV!

  • Better display of processing files

jan14_pic_processingMany of our users provided feedback that they were having problems understanding the length of time it takes us to process video files for online streaming. We’ve improved our web interface to show you the processing status of the media files that you upload. You can follow the progress of your files directly from the library.

  • Let your friends download shared content

jan14_pic_shareReady to share the videos from your ski trip of photos from your holiday part? Your friends can now download personal photos and videos that you share with them! Your friends will only be able to download content if you choose to let them – otherwise, your content will be viewable only. This was a highly requested feature, and we are excited for you to try it out. Simply check the box “Let your friends download this content” when you share items from your “Photos and Videos” library.

  • Great recent press

pcadvisorIt’s not a product update, but we are excited to share some recent press we’ve gotten. PC Advisor says “It all works swimmingly, simplifying the task of getting media up to your Streamnation account and doing exactly what it says on the tin… if you’re looking for a secure way of streaming content between yourself and your friends, Streamnation looks like a good bet.”

theverge The Verge kindly gushes “Streamnation 2.0 is an impressive genre-spanning service and application.” What great holiday gifts for us!

We continue to make major improvements to the entire site and the overall user experience. You’ll find that uploads process faster, the web player is even more stable and the user interface continues to get better and better.

If you haven’t uploaded anything in a while, please visit Streamnation and see all the changes for yourself. And if you need more bandwidth or storage, visit our upgrade page to check out all of our pricing plans.
